VHP stands for Very High Polarization. It is a raw sugar produced primarily for refining and industrial use, and one of the grades most associated with Brazilian export flows.
What polarization means
Polarization expresses the sucrose content of the sugar. A higher polarization means more recoverable sucrose per tonne, which directly affects the yield a refinery can expect from the material.
Who buys VHP
Typical buyers are refineries and industrial processors who will treat the sugar further before it reaches a final product. VHP is usually shipped in bulk or big bags, and the contractual specification defines the acceptable ranges for polarization, colour and moisture.
