VHP and VVHP are both raw sugars used mainly as refining feedstock. The difference between them is a matter of degree, but it has a real commercial effect.
The practical difference
VVHP carries a higher polarization than standard VHP. For a refinery, that translates into more sucrose recovered per tonne processed, and often into a different price basis.
- VHP — raw sugar, standard export polarization
- VVHP — raw sugar, higher polarization, higher refining yield
- Both — colour, moisture and tolerances set contractually
Choosing between them
The right choice depends on your process economics: what yield you need, what you pay per tonne, and how the material behaves in your refining line. It is worth comparing landed cost per tonne of recovered sucrose rather than headline price.
